The book The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness by Jeff Olson has had a huge influence on the way I have been thinking about life. The main idea is that everything in life good or bad is an outcome of little choices made over a long period of time. It’s a simple concept but an important one.
If you go into debt, usually it doesn’t happen overnight with one bad purchase, but usually a series of bad habits that happen over a period of time. Most of the time, the only way out is to change your habits and slowly dig yourself out.
Growing old happens the same way. Slowly, over time your body and mind starts to deteriorate. The changes are so small that they are imperceptible day to day.
The good thing about thinking about life as a series of small changes is that it works the same way for good changes. Develop good habits and you can start today to become stronger, smarter, and more successful. After all, an old sword still can be very sharp.
I am 44 years old as I am starting this blog and I have made quite a few changes in my life the last couple of years. I’ll be documenting these changes and exploring new ways to “hack” life and stay young.
